Help Chris and Family Through Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hi guys,
It is very unlike our family to reach out and ask for help in a time of need. Like every other family we try to exhaust all options for help before reaching out to a community, but sometimes it takes a village. In April of 2024 my husband, our family was faced with a difficult to hear medical diagnosis of rectal cancer. We have been navigating the life changing challenges of this diagnosis for nearly a year. This diagnosis brought us down to a one income household, who has relied on two incomes for many years. We are visiting doctors offices in different areas some times a few times a week and travel expense alone to and from Pittsburgh so treatment and including chemotherapy and regular status check ups has been financially draining. Also because of the medical diagnosis driving is a risk for Chris, I am needing to take more time off of work to attend the appointments with him and take him to and from these appointments. The diagnosis was unpredictable and also unpreventable. Not only are we facing financial barriers, we are also battling the emotional challenges daily of living with this horrible diagnosis, recently therapy for stages of grief has been offered but with the already time involved in treatment, committing to a therapy, a much needed therapy for my family would require more time off of or out of work and impact our finances even greater. If you know Chris, you know his story has not been an easy one, as being injured in a vehicle accident in his teens that left him paralyzed for months, he progressed through that unfortunate situation, and later faced a colectomy, losing part of his large intestine navigating the barriers of that diagnosis, progressed, and ran into another wall with the cancer diagnosis early 2024.
There is an upside to all of this and that is progress. Each day brings different progresses and we think that with time patience and the right professional help Chris can be on his way to remission.
At this time my family is in need of help for basic day to day finances. Any help is appreciated and if you are not able to help, please share. Please keep Chris and our family in your prayers, and on your community pray lists.
