Stand Strong with Chris Anderson in Lymphoma Battle

Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that we share an update about Uncle Chris Anderson—a hanai uncle deeply cherished by all, a devoted husband to Barbara, a loving father to Kaila and Katie, and a proud Papa to his grandchildren. Uncle Chris has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, affecting less than 15% of patients with this disease.

For months, Uncle Chris sought medical care for a persistent cough, but his health took a sudden turn for the worse, leading to his hospitalization just days before Christmas. While he was briefly able to spend Christmas at home surrounded by family, he was readmitted to Wilcox Hospital shortly after and ultimately life-flighted to Straub Hospital on Oahu as his condition deteriorated rapidly. During those critical days, we feared the worst.

Faced with the difficult choice between hospice care and an aggressive chemotherapy regimen—knowing that chemotherapy could potentially worsen his condition, Uncle Chris, with his fighting spirit, nodded yes to treatment, determined to battle this head-on.

On January 3rd, he began an intensive chemotherapy regimen. His treatment plan includes receiving chemotherapy for three days at a time, every three weeks, for a minimum of six rounds. Additionally, weekly chemotherapy via lumbar puncture is necessary, as cancer cells were found in his cerebral spinal fluid. While we are hopeful that future treatments may be possible on an outpatient basis, Uncle Chris remains hospitalized and is very ill. A stem cell transplant on the mainland will likely be required, as this cancer has a high risk of recurrence.

This diagnosis has shaken everyone who loves Uncle Chris, but we are determined to stand by the Anderson ‘Ohana as they face this fight!

To access the specialized care he needs, Uncle Chris and his family will face frequent travel to Oahu and likely the mainland, resulting in significant emotional, physical, and financial strain. Medical bills, travel costs, time away from work, and other expenses are quickly adding up, which is why we’re reaching out for your help.

The Anderson family has been a source of unwavering love, guidance, and support for so many of us, and now it’s our turn to give back.
