Help Chris, Erin, & Baby Recover From CO Fire

That Devastating Call:

When we received the phone call in CA from our son, Chris, telling us that his home in Louisville, Colorado was in the path of a wildfire traveling over 100 mph, our only thought was to tell him to get out with his wife, Erin who was 7 months pregnant with our first grandchild, and their dog, Moxie. Luckily, they managed to find shelter at a friend's vacant home. There, they watched the news reports in horror about how their entire neighborhood was beyond help. Firefighters lives were in danger and they were ordered to abandon the fire. Our son’s home was completely destroyed along with most of the neighborhood.

It's All Gone:

Although we are all grateful that they escaped with their lives, Chris called us the next morning to say, "It's all gone." The entire house and EVERYTHING inside was GONE. The entire neighborhood looked like a war zone. Big things, like both of their wedding rings, and little things, like all of the items they had purchased for their unborn child, are all gone. Imagine every little thing you have ever acquired gone.

They Have Only 1 Year:

Hundreds of families affected by these unprecedented fires soon discovered that typically no insurance company will cover all costs related to rebuilding and replacing all that was lost. In addition, rebuilding will be delayed beyond the scope their insurance company allows. In short, they will be without coverage for temporary housing costs right about the time their baby will be one year old. Clearly, they need help.

Our wish is that this fundraiser will:

1) generate the funds needed to help them purchase all of the things they need to live now and prepare for their new baby,

2) help cover extended temporary housing costs, like rent and renter's insurance which are not covered by home owner's insurance,

3) help cover rebuilding costs which are inflated due to the scope of this disaster.

There are some things that can never be replaced, but with your help they will have a home to live in with their new child and they will eventually be able to rebuild their home and replace the things they need.
