Help Chris Keep His Home as He Heals His Injuries

Hello - My name is Caroline Ryan, and I'm creating this fundraiser for my friend Christopher Banks.

Chris is a spiritually aware, compassionate, kind person who has helped many people in his life to get past difficult experiences and life situations.

He lives in Chicago, and cycling on his bike is how he gets around.

Unfortunately, a year ago, he suffered a torn meniscus in his knee from an accident when the chain came off his bike. The bike stopped very suddenly, and he pitched forward and hit the street on his knees, injuring his right knee badly.

It has taken a year of slow healing for him to regain nearly full use of that knee. Then he was injured again a couple of months ago -- a man opened his car door into Chris as he was riding his bike past the man’s car.

Chris earns his money as a house painter, but he cannot work right now because he can’t put any weight on the knee till it’s healed.

As a result of the second accident, he’s now two months behind on his rent because he hasn’t been able to work these last two months.

Chris is actively seeking alternative employment, but because he has worked independently and off-grid for the last 27 years, job-seeking has been frustrating and fruitless for him so far, though he is continuing with it.

The landlord is pressuring Chris to pay rent or lose his apartment. He already lives in a low-income building and neighborhood, as his income has not been high, even though he was working steadily before the latest accident.

Even the lower rent payments are impossible to make with no income.

Donations of any amount will be a tremendous help for Chris to keep his housing while he heals.
