Help Chris Overcome His Brutal Attack
Donation protected
We have surpassed our original goal but I am keeping it open because we are being told the goal amount was far too low for his needs. This is all very new to me and I am totally overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone that is giving. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you all for loving my brother.
On Thursday June 20th my precious older brother was brutally attacked by a homeless man with a machete as he was getting into his car after work. Chris is employed by Advantage Homeless Day center in Athens, Ga, where he pours his heart into serving the homeless community. Everyone that knows Chris (Bubba) loves him. Clients and co-workers alike.
He was life flighted from Piedmont regional hospital in Athens to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. He had extensive damage to his skull, with several large lacerations over his head and several fractures, part of his skull was lodged in his brain and his brain was bulging through the openings in the fractures. He had fractures around both eyes and extensive bleeding from his head and eyes. Thanks to the very quick response by one of Chris's clients and 2 of his co-workers, they were able to keep him stable and pressure wrap his head to keep him from loosing more blood, which likely saved his life.
As of right now, he's has had 3 major surgeries to repair his skull, facial reconstruction and surgery on his eyes. He will also need an additional surgery to remove his left eye, as they were not able to save it. Thank God for the amazing staff at both hospitals so far and the outpouring of love and support from friends, family and his co-workers.
Anything helps. Prayers are always appreciated, but certainly if you feel led and are financially able, please consider donating to help cover medical and daily cost for the family, as we will be staying here in Atlanta.
My mom is by him constantly and if she moves her hand, he immediately grabs it back. He's responding. Thank God for his healing!!
