Help Chris Penfold return home to his family

Hi, my name is Nigel and I am raising funds for my brother who has been in hospital since June 2023. He will be unable to return home until he has a custom made lightweight wheelchair and his house adapted due to his disabilities.

Chris was an active, hardworking man living with his wife and 3 children. The thought of not working never crossed his mind.

In June 2023 Chris's life changed overnight. He was found unconscious. Chris found himself life changing injuries and has lost the use of both legs and one arm.

Chris underwent a cervical laminectomy which is an operation done on the back of the neck to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. It involves carefully removing the bony roof (or laminae) of the spinal canal, as well as any soft tissue which may also be causing compression.

Due to only being able to use one arm, a lightweight wheelchair will greatly improve his quality of life as he will have the freedom to go out and about by himself. The house will need adapting to suit his needs so he can return to his family and home.

Chris was hoping to be home for his 50th birthday in April.
