Help Chris Sharikas
Donation protected
Hello, we are the Sharikas and Campbell family; we need help to get Chris proper medical care and a chance to enjoy life.
Chris has had paranoid schizophrenia since he was a teenager. He did something wrong during his teenage years while suffering from a paranoid delusion. Fortunately, no one was killed, although Chris was guilty of carjacking and stabbing someone with a small knife. During his trial, Chris was sent to Central State in Virginia so that he could become mentally competent and stand trial. After a month and receiving mental health care, the State determined that Chris was competent to stand trial and the State returned him to Arlington County Jail to wait for his jail. While in Arlington County, the jail medical staff decided to take Chris off his mental health medications, where Chris' mental health once again deteriorated.
The victim of Chris' crime was serving as an intern in the Arlington County prosecutor's office, and her boyfriend was a Virginia State Police Officer at the time. Chris' attorney was a real estate attorney who was eventually disbarred and criminally charged with several crimes unrelated to Chris' case. Chris' attorney never thought to pursue a venue change, never raised a mental illness defense, and never objected to the treatment Chtri received in Arlington County Jail.
At the proceeding, Chris clearly had mental issues and showed no remorse in front of the judge. The judge became angry at Chris for not showing remorse and sentenced him to consectiveily serve two life sentences plus 45 years. Chris' guidlines called for him to serve 9-12 years.
Ever since the intial court hearing, Chris' family has fought Virginia's crminal system and have been unable to get Chris a fair hearing from anyone other than an angry judge. The case has gone up to the US Supreme court who chose not to hear the case.
We have tried the pardon route and have gone through the new parole system in Virginia. We have failed to Chris a chance at a better life and appropriate health care.
We need your help to figure out how to addres this issue. We want to raise money to pay for consultants and legal help to develop a plan and a legal plan to better address issues. Our goal is to raise $50,000.
Can you help Chirs achieve this goal?
Thank you in advance for your help.
