Help Chris Walk Again: Support for Prosthetic Leg

Donation protected

It's taken me a couple of months to get to this point. I didn't want it to come to this but, here we are. July 29th, 2024. A few months ago I got sick. Temperature. Chills. I thought it was just flu or possibly covid so, I quarantined myself. Next morning I woke up and couldn't stand on my leg because it was too painful and I was disoriented. My wife took me to the ER just for her to find out I was septic and in diabetic keto acidosis. I had developed a MRSA infection and didn't know. I had been going to work. I'm a personal trainer. I ended up being admitted and was in the hospital for 8 weeks after losing my right leg. Then the doctor discovered that the infection made it to my spine. Had to have a T9-T10 Lamenectomy with stabilization. I don't remember the first 3 weeks of the stay due to the DKA. My wife Heather and my 2 daughters, Kristin and Zoe, never left my side except for school. If it wasn't for them, I don't think I would have made it. My parents were a blessing too. They couldn't stay 24/7 , but they were there. Every day. I had stopped breathing twice when I was first in. I'm sure that's why they wouldn't leave my side. So when I first gained some sense of where I was and what had happened, I knew i could not give up. My family had not given up. How can I? Well here we are. 3 months later on November 1st. And I'm back home. Home health. Wound therapy. But I'm home. With my family. And now? I'm ready for my prosthetic leg. I'm early for it because my family didn't give up on me and I didn't give up. Problem is that I haven't been working for 3 months. And disability has not made a decision yet. But it's time to get my leg. So here I am. Asking for help. Because I'm ready to walk again. I'm 52 and ready to get back to work. To help provide for my family. Financially we are in trouble because of the loss of my income and can't afford this leg on my own. Please, if you can, we are asking for a little help to get my leg. The insurance isn't paying as much as I thought. With all sincerity, thank you for taking the time to listen to me. Any donation given will go towards my prosthetic leg and maintenance of the leg.
