Help Chrissie Lyons represent USA Women's Barebow
Donation protected
My name is Chrissie Lyons. I am a Wife, Mom, Coach and Barebow Archer shooting for the United States Archery Team.
My archery journey began in April 2019 when I brought my youngest daughter to a local archery range. With another daughter soon off to basic training in the Air Force and me needing a distraction, I decided to try archery myself and then requested a lesson. I was 43 years old and had never touched a bow. Why not try something new?
That ‘why not’ gave way to discovering something about myself no one expected, including me! Within six months of starting archery, my practice scores were high enough to compete at a national level…And with nothing to lose, I gave it a shot. A whirlwind of three years later, my archery career, advancing the sport of archery, and every incredible person in it has become what I wake up for each day.
Since I asked for that first lesson, I have earned two World Records, four National Records, various state-level records, and seven National Champion titles, along with over 20 National Level Event podium finishes in indoor, outdoor, and field archery… While I was still going to work and taking care of my family!
One of the greatest moments in my life was being selected for the 2022 United States Archery Team. My first international event in the red, white, and blue jersey was competing at the 2022 World Games and earning the first Silver Medal in Women’s Barebow for the United States of America!
For the next chapter, I am competing for Team USA during the 2022 World Field Championships and the 2022 Pan Am Championships in Santiago, Chile this fall. But as incredible as being asked to compete internationally is, I cannot do it alone.
Almost all events in barebow archery are entirely self-funded, and these two events are no exception. This has become a heavy burden for my family to carry as they support my passion. I have made it my personal mission to promote and grow barebow archery, show that women of any age can pick up a new sport or activity and excel at it, and use my story as a child in the foster care system to help those still living in it to see that there can be brighter futures ahead. As painful as it is to ask for help, it’s entirely out of pocket and more time training and away competing means fewer paid hours back home. With sincere love for what I hope to accomplish, I have to ask my friends and supporters to consider donating to my journey as an archer, coach, and advocate.
All donations will be used for travel costs and expenses rolled into being a part of the USA Team and my work on improving and growing opportunities in women’s barebow archery across the country. Any amount makes a difference, and I promise to do my best to keep paying it forward and making a difference for others as well.
Thank you so much for all your love and support!
