My name is Christian, and I've lived in Iowa for 5 years. My three children and I are desperately needing to relocate. We've been dealing with extremely rough storms here in Spencer, Iowa. From freezing winters and getting flooded in May, and now completely flooded out in June. The weekend of 6/22- 6/25 we had rain for days causing our entire small town to flood. Both floods from May and June impacted my trailer home tremendously. My sewage became backed up a day after the first hard flood in May. I haven't been able to wash dishes properly, shower me or my children, or use the toilet. If the toilet is used it overflows with water and sewage along with the tub filling with sewage. That same storm caused my main electricity breaker to flip. Only a small percentage of my electricity works. From this storm in June (current) the sewage backed up worse due to the flooding and my roof on my back indoor porch area is getting ready to cave in. I've applied for HUD and Section 8 numerous of times trying to get an apartment. I've come to realization that there's not many options here for my family. There's so many people looking for homes in our small community right now that it's hard for anyone to find home placement when a good portion of our towns homes were destroyed from this storm. The storms here are brutal. We own this trailer but sadly our home is no longer safe for us to live in and I'm in desperate need of help to leave. The other night I tried to take a trip an hour away to take a shower because it had been 7 days since we had showered due to the storm. I hit multiple detours and dead ends because we were trapped in from flooding. I decided to turn around and go home. I ended up stuck in a deep mud hole causing two flat tires and a broken phone. I could really use a blessing. A weight off my shoulders and a fresh start with my children. The amount of pain our community is going through right now is so sad. Some people lost their entire homes, vehicles, our local schools and slot of our businesses. It's going to be a long road to recovering. Until then hopefully this will help my situation somehow, someway.I could only dream of a better living condition. My children deserve so much better then what we've been having to go through. I'm praying so hard for a blessings..
