Help Christophe Recover from a Devastating Fire

In the early morning hours of June 20, 2024 an all-consuming fire destroyed my brother’s fishing storage shed. Inside the building was the entirety of Christophe’s fishing career- 320 crab pots, buoys, lines, salmon poles and gear, tanks, and more. It was 25-years worth of meticulously kept, hand-rigged and painted, boat-related equipment crucial to his livelihood as a commercial fisherman. He, and the other captains who used this storage facility, have each lost hundreds of thousands worth of gear that takes years to hand-craft and accumulate. 

Most of us know that being a fisherman is a tough living. It requires extreme risk and dedication. Each season is affected by climate change, environmental initiatives, and government shutdowns. This delicate balance to protect sea life, while maintaining our food consumption and the livelihoods of fishing communities means my brother and many of his colleagues often have shorter windows of time to fish. They live hand-to-mouth and make tough choices to get by. Gear is often more valuable than the boats themselves (as it was in this case). All funds raised here will go towards replacing necessary gear. (The estimate for the crab pots is 83K. To replace rope, lines, buoys, rigs, etc is 25K.)
