Chris vs GBS

Donation protected
Hello Everyone, My dearest husband Christopher Chatmon who was an Army veteran with twenty-one years of honorable service before retiring to work life as a civilian. He was recently and unexpectedly stricken with Guillain-Barré syndrome. (GBS) is an extremely rare incurable syndrome. Once you’ve contracted it: The first symptoms of (GBS) will begin with a Back Ache(s) and then progress on to loss of upper and lower extremities meaning Chris has to learn to walk on his own, eat his own food without assistance and put his own clothes on without assistance. Which is extremely hard for Chris to do at this time. When Chris was rushed to the hospital In late January, 2023. The medical staff at the hospital performed so many tests without success until the staff performed a spinal tap on Chris’ back. Finally, the doctors at the Anne Arundel Medical Center diagnosed Chris with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. (Again, I must reiterate GBS is a very dangerous disease). With regards to GBS attacking the respiratory system. Chris was unable to breathe on his on so he had to be intubated. At that time Chris was suffering from fluid on his lungs, pneumonia and Influenza. He was in a truly dire medical state. While GBS, is often survivable it can also-prove to be life-threatening. There is no known cure for Guillain-Barre Syndrome. However, Chris is such a super soldier. I am truly in awe and proud by his commitment to get healthier and staying strong. Chris is improving and regaining some mobility. Although, there is still a long journey ahead.

Sincerely  - Brandy Chatmon

I am truly grateful to be alive and surrounded by family, friends and associates who love and care about me. I am forever appreciative to the medical professionals, My devoted-committed wife, my beautiful daughters who flew in from Texas to be with their old man, and all the prayers and visits from friends and family. With me being in the hospital and unable to work, my finances have taken a serious beat down. Admittedly, I'm extremely nervous about the road ahead. GBS has no known cure, and I will live with this syndrome for the rest of my life. So I respectfully ask my family, friends, and associates to please help ease my family's financial hardship as I recover. Anything you can give would be a tremendous blessing for my family and me.

 Sincerely,

 Christopher K. Chatmon
