Help Christopher get to NAPA Intensive Therapy!

Hello friends and family! We just found out that Christopher was selected for an open spot at the NAPA Center in Chicago this January 30th for a 3-week intensive physical therapy program! NAPA Center books out a year in advance so getting a spot is such a blessing. The intensive therapy program at NAPA is life-changing and we are so excited he was selected, but most families have a year to plan for funding. We only have 20 days so we need your help!

NAPA Center is one of the top physical therapy centers in the US for pediatric rehabilitation. It provides innovative intensive therapy programs specializing in physical and occupational therapies. Christopher will be doing a 3-week intensive program for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week in Chicago! Unfortunately NAPA Center doesn't accept our insurance so we will have to pay for this completely out of pocket. As you can imagine, the cost is very high, so we are asking for help from all of you. All funds raised will go towards the cost of therapy, travel and lodging.

Christophers' Journey with Cerebral Palsy

Christopher is a happy, funny and determined 7-year-old boy that lives with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. Spastic Diplegia causes severe muscle tightness in his legs and makes it very hard for him to walk and also causes a lot of pain. At 6 years old, Christopher had Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy surgery. The neurosurgeon went in and cut the nerve rootlets in his lower spine to help eliminate the spasticity in his legs and give him the chance to walk independently and to live a more 'normal' pain-free life. The surgery has caused some setbacks but overall it has been a blessing. Christopher continues to work hard every day to reach new milestones, but with SDR surgery comes many years of recommended intensive physical therapy programs... This is where NAPA comes in!

NAPA has specific exercises and activities that can help maintain and enhance his muscle strength, balance, and motor abilities, as well as prevent contractures. By attending NAPA, we hope to keep his strength, confidence, flexibility and mobility on track so we can avoid any further surgeries/pain/issues in the future as he grows into adulthood. It is proven that children make more progress in 3 weeks of intensive therapy than they would in 1 year of traditional therapy!
