Help Christopher Recover and Thrive

As some of you already know, Christopher has been sick since around March 22. He has only been able to work about 7 days since this all started. He would try to go to work and end up having to leave. He has had several ER visits to different hospitals where his symptoms were just passed off as a stomach virus. On Thursday, I brought him to St. Mary’s and pleaded with the attending ER physician to please listen to us and want to figure out what is wrong. My prayers were answered… we had come to the right hospital, finally. He was admitted with elevated white blood cell levels and running a high fever. They started him on antibiotics and fluids immediately. He has had several tests by process of elimination to try to get to the bottom of the stomach pain, burning, excessive vomiting, and other symptoms. Today, he had a HIDA scan where they tested the functions of his liver, gallbladder, and bile duct. The doctors were able to replicate the pain in his stomach with this test, which indicated there could be an issue with the gallbladder not performing correctly. We won’t know the results for this until this evening.

If he has to have surgery, he will be out of work at least 2-3 more weeks, and if he doesn’t, he will be sent home with another round of oral antibiotics and will be able to go back to work in a week. In the meantime, he does not have any paid time off left to use to finally compensate for his time missed. He is going to need some help with maintaining his upcoming monthly bills until he is able to return to work and draw a paycheck, which will also take another two additional weeks once he returns to work. I completely understand that most of us, including myself, live paycheck to paycheck, but if anyone is able to help him get back on his feet, it would be greatly appreciated.
