Help Christy Williams Fight Stage 4 Cancer

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Supporters,
We are writing to share the journey of our longtime friend, Christy Williams, a journey she never imagined she would embark on - a battle against stage IV metastatic thyroid cancer.
This is a cancer that is usually known to be “one of the better cancers”. It is normally found contained in the thyroid and is usually eradicated with one round of radiation. Unfortunately, in Christy’s case, and despite annual medical exams, the cancer was not detected until it had spread to 13 lymph nodes and her lungs.
Needless to say, this cancer has changed categories from “easy to cure” to one that is now life threatening and presenting her with a daunting challenge on many levels. She has already had two major surgeries to remove her thyroid, the 13 cancerous lymph nodes and the affected cervical muscles, leaving the remaining diffuse cancer to be treated over the next months with multiple rounds of radioactive iodine.
Just 10 months ago Christy was running her own successful medical massage therapy center in Little River, South Carolina, living with her 3 children and long-term partner to whom she was engaged to be married. The cancer diagnosis brought massive upheaval in her life. Due to the ongoing treatments and the subsequent fatigue, she could no longer work to support her family and the wellness center that supported her and her three children closed, leaving her alone and without the financial resources she needs to face this battle.
Christy has just moved from Little River, SC back to her hometown of Columbia, SC to be closer to her supportive family and friends. Her son Brian, a professional glass blower turned dedicated caregiver has relocated with her in order to care for her over the next months. When her energy returns, Christy plans to relocate her massage therapy center belongings and equipment to Columbia where she will re-start her business.

As she fights this battle, she is faced with daunting financial challenges. Fighting to survive this disease comes with astronomical costs, and she has found herself in a desperate situation. Cancer has not only attacked Christy’s body but has also completely drained her financial resources. She is currently driving an older, unreliable car back and forth from Columbia to Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston and is unable to purchase a more reliable car at this time. The mounting bills, combined with the daily cost of living, have become overwhelming, impeding her focus on healing and recovery.
Those of you who already know Christy are aware that she is a strong and resilient soul and has always been a caregiver and healer for others, offering her love and support unconditionally. Now, we are asking you to rally around her to provide the care and assistance she needs during this challenging journey. With your donations we hope to help Christy breathe a sigh of relief and focus on what truly matters – her health and well-being.
We have set an initial fundraising goal of $50,000 which will help to ease Christy’s financial strain, enabling her to cover her treatment related expenses, essential household bills such as food, rent and utilities, purchase a reliable used car and meet other unexpected expenses that inevitably arise during this challenging time. Our goal is to provide Christy with the financial stability and peace of mind she deserves, allowing her to solely concentrate on her healing process.
