Help Christyl Dunn walk again.

Hello Caring Friends,

I have never done a GoFundMe before, but today I am reaching out to you on behalf of Christy Dunn, one of my teammates here at the Lynchburg Humane Society. Christyl is one of the hardest working most compassionate Animal Care Supervisors here at LHS. She is a brave and resilient woman whose life took a horrific, unexpected turn when she recently developed blood clots that led to the amputation of her leg. This health crisis happened very quickly, over the last couple of weeks, and Christyl’s world has been turned upside down. She is a fighter and will survive this, but now she needs our support.

In the prime of her life, Christyl was diagnosed with severe blood clots that threatened not only her leg but her entire well-being. Despite the best efforts of her medical team, the decision to amputate her leg became a heartbreaking necessity. This sudden and life-altering event has left Christyl facing not only physical challenges but also significant financial burdens. Luckily she has health insurance, but her out or pocket and living expenses are quickly mounting. Her recovery will take several months and many long hours of physical therapy. She hopes to be fitted for a prosthetic leg in early 2024.

As Christyl embarks on the journey of adapting to life with a prosthetic limb, we want to rally around her and provide the financial support needed for her medical expenses, rehabilitation, and the necessary modifications to make her living space more accessible.

The funds raised will go towards:

• Medical Expenses: Covering the costs of surgeries, hospital stays, and ongoing medical care.

• Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy: Ensuring Christyl has access to the best rehabilitation services to help her regain strength and mobility.

• Prosthetic Limb: Assisting with the purchase of a high-quality prosthetic limb that will enable Christyl to regain independence and mobility.

• Home Modifications: Adapting Christy's living space to make it more accessible and accommodating to her new needs.

• Emotional Support: Providing resources for counseling and mental health support to help Christyl navigate the emotional challenges that come with such a significant life change.

Christyl has always been there for all the pets here at LHS and for her teammates, offering a helping hand and unwavering support. Now, it's our turn to stand by her side and lift her up in her time of need. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful impact on her journey toward recovery and rebuilding her life.
