Help Chuck McClanahan with His Recovery from a Serious Infection

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m reaching out with an urgent request for support for our beloved Chuck McClanahan. Recently, Chuck underwent a critical surgery as part of his ongoing battle against a severe bacterial infection in his lungs. This infection, which developed after his heart surgery, has taken a serious toll on his health and energy.

The procedure involved his thoracic surgeon collapsing one of his lungs to drain the fluid that had built up. After the surgery, Chuck was left with a chest tube for several days to help his lungs recover. Though exhausted, he has been fighting bravely through this difficult ordeal.

Following the surgery, Chuck experienced complications, including a significant drop in his blood pressure. Despite receiving fluids, his condition did not immediately improve, and his medical team closely monitored him for signs of sepsis. Thankfully, blood cultures have come back negative, indicating that the infection had not spread to his bloodstream. However, elevated lactic acid levels and the severity of the infection required continued vigilance.

Chuck was transferred to the ICU, where he is currently receiving around-the-clock care from an intensivist doctor. The team has been working tirelessly to stabilize his blood pressure and treat the infection in his lungs. While he remains drowsy from the illness, his mental state is still unstable. But, the drainage from his lungs has shown some encouraging signs of progress.

Now, Chuck faces a long road to recovery. His medical team continues to provide the best possible care, but Chuck is unable to work during this time, and the financial strain has become overwhelming. That’s why we’re launching this GoFundMe campaign—to help cover his living expenses while he slowly regains his strength.
