Help Cicada Run Again: Surgery Fund
Donation protected
It’s the classic story: a family falls in love with a sweet shelter pup (not even two years old and already a mom), they spend three carefree years romping after balls and chasing rabbits when, one slippery day, the pup misses her step and something tears. It’s just a small limp at first, treated with movement restriction and joint supplements. Our vet is hopeful it may get better! But weeks turn into months and the limp turns into something worse, unable to bear weight on her leg at all, in too much pain to run or jump onto the bed. Her leg gets skinnier as treatment options fail one after another, until at last there is only one final recourse: surgery to repair her ccl tear, fully reconstructing her knee.
This same surgery cost 3 thousand dollars in 2015, and we have gotten quotes from two different surgeons ranging from 5-8 thousand dollars. We are going to be traveling to a surgeon in Green Bay to hopefully find ourselves on the lower end of the estimates. All funds will go to the cost of Cicada’s surgery and recovery supplies - any excess after the surgery will be forwarded on to other fundraisers for pets in need.
We know it’s tough out there right now, not just for us. Please don’t feel pressured to give beyond what is sustainable, even sharing the link is a huge help.
All our love,
Cicada, Shannon, and Mar
