Help Claire Beat Triple Positive Breast Cancer

MEET CLAIRE
She’s just 38, a devoted wife and mother to two little girls aged just 2 and 4. My sister has just been diagnosed with cancer for the second time and is about to embark on a huge journey in a fight for her life. She is our family, and is currently a stay-at-home mother to Evelyn and Natalie, pouring all her time into her family and putting herself last. She’s passionate about helping other women and children in need and is a dedicated volunteer at St Kilda Mums charity. She’s kind and compassionate, committed to making the most of every day with her girls, and she loves her family and friends.
LIVING LIFE
Enjoying life in Melbourne with her husband Aaron and kids, life was good and the family was looking forward to doing some home improvements. However, In October 2019, their lives changed forever. Claire found a small breast lump during a routine self-exam, which was diagnosed as Stage 1 Triple Positive Invasive carcinoma just 3 days later. Claire was in surgery a week later for a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal and then commenced a treatment regime for the next 6 months. This in itself was a massive cost and set the family back considerably. We were all shocked about her diagnosis, as anyone that knows Claire knows that she’s very health conscious and does everything to look after her health. We lost our Dad to cancer in 2007, so we know how cancer can affect lives. In July 2020, we were overjoyed to hear that her scans and MRI were clear and that she’d been given the “All Clear!”
CANCER AGAIN
Fast forward to January 2021 and Claire finds another lump under her right armpit and had an immediate ultrasound to have it checked. After having a biopsy, she was given the heart-breaking news that it was again cancer, but this time it has spread to the lymph nodes. A routine PET/CT scan was performed to check if the cancer had metastasised, and luckily it showed no further spread. However, her medical team recommended immediate surgery to remove the affected nodes.
On February 19th 2021, Claire went in for surgery to have the cancer removed again. When the surgeon was operating, he found a cancerous cluster of several nodes, fatty tissue and muscle. this finding has prompted the need for further intensive, ongoing treatment.
THE TREATMENT
Claire has been working with a specialised oncology team, who has recommended a comprehensive treatment plan to hopefully kill any further cancer cells in the surrounding area and also target any cancer stem cells that may be looking to metastasize.
Her treatment plan will combine both conventional and complementary therapies, in order to provide the best possible outcome. By supporting her body with as many complementary therapies as possible, this will help ease the awful side-effects of traditional treatments, increase her natural immune system and support her overall wellbeing. Unfortunately none of these are covered by Medicare and can be costly. Due to the surgery, she requires weekly physiotherapy visits to regain full movement of her arm and also weekly lymphcare appointments to prevent lymphedema and cording.
THE COST
The treatment will cost $50,000 + just as a starter and this is a massive financial burden the family is struggling to carry on their own. This will go toward treatment costs, medical appointments, scans, complementary therapies, child care for when Claire has appointments and ongoing check-ups.
Ideally, Claire would have loved to spend 3 healing weeks at Hope4Cancer in Cancun, where she would have receive state-of-the-art medical treatment focused on killing cancer cells while boosting her immune system and overall health. Unfortunately, due to Covid hotel quarantine restrictions, travelling to Mexico at this time would prove extremely difficult.
Instead, we would love to send Claire for a week to a health retreat somewhere in Australia, to spend some time alone to rest and heal.
The sooner she starts treatment, the better! So we need your help urgently!
It’s why we’re asking for generosity from those who can spare it, with even the smallest contribution a help in easing this family's worry about funding the treatment. We really appreciate every small dollar.
We're certainly not placing her situation above anyone else's hardships, however she means the world to us! Please give what you can to give her the best shot to beat this disease!
Family is everything and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading this and hopefully donating. your kindness is a true blessing x
