Help Support Clare, Romain, and Luca After the Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Our dear friends Clare and Romain lost their home in the devastating Eaton wildfire, leaving them and their 1-year-old son Luca, and dog Maggie, with no personal belongings. Adding to this unimaginable loss, both of their professional workspaces were also destroyed by the fire – Clare’s home art studio where she practiced pottery, stained glass, weaving, and more; and Romain’s home office where he concepted, pitched, and edited work as a photographer and director.

We’re asking for your help to support Clare and Romain.

How the Funds Will Help

Funds raised through this campaign will help cover any uncovered expenses, including things like temporary housing, essential needs, and items to support Luca and Maggie’s care.

About Clare and Romain

Clare and Romain moved to California from Brooklyn in 2018, and purchased their first home in Altadena in 2022. They chose Altadena for its rich history and tight-knit, diverse community where families have lived and supported one another for generations. It was their dream to make this house their forever home, and a place for them to grow as a family with their young son, Luca.

From the moment they moved in, Clare and Romain poured their hearts into every inch of their home. Every nook and cranny held something special, from the cabinets of trinkets and handmade treasures to their collection of art books and family heirlooms. Their lush gardens were a vibrant reflection of their creativity and love for California’s native plants and trees, which they cultivated and cherished. Clare’s art studio was a magical space, filled with ceramics and stained glass, and was brimming with supplies and tools she collected throughout her life. Romain’s workspace served as a sanctuary for creativity and inspiration. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, beauty, and love, where they welcomed friends and neighbors with open arms.

Like so many in their community, everything they worked for was gone in an instant, and they are now faced with the daunting reality of starting over.

Share Your Support

I had the privilege of working with Clare in Brooklyn, where we quickly became close. Through Clare, I got to know her husband Romain, and over the years, we’ve formed a tight-knit circle of friends. Even though many of us have moved all across the country (I now live in New Jersey), Clare and Romain have a remarkable ability to nurture friendships across time and distance. Their kindness, generosity, and love have touched many people, including me.

Clare and Romain have always been the kind of people who show up for their community, and now it’s our turn to show up for them. Any support – through a donation or by sharing this campaign – will make a meaningful difference for this beloved family as they work to recover.

Thank you for your kindness and support.
