Help Clay Restore His Livelihood
Donation protected
I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my beloved brother, who has recently faced a devastating loss impacting his livelihood. On Friday, September 13th his flatbed truck with concrete pump attached was stolen from outside the house in Northridge. We’ve all had things stolen or taken from us. But the wound is much deeper when that thing that is taken from you is your sole and primary means to earn and provide for your family, and your career is literally swept right from under you. The greater tragedy is that it occurred to someone who’s worked so incredibly hard to get to where he is. After 25 years of working in the construction industry, Clay finally saved enough money to buy his own work truck and concrete pump 4 years ago. He was finally his own boss, working for himself and doing what he could to get ahead. It’s a sad day when someone takes what you have spent your blood, sweat, and tears to get, and it's heart-wrenching to see how his life can be flipped upside down so quickly.
As the sole provider for his family, you can imagine the impact this is having. Bills, unfortunately, do not pause in times of crisis.
With only Liability insurance, theft is not covered. After multiple attempts to locate the stolen property and seeing the glimmer of hope diminish, I urged him to start this page. As difficult as it may be for him to be vulnerable and ask for help, we all have experienced hardships, and he is surrounded by a village that wants to see him rise once again. When times of injustice like this occur, it is usually us private citizens that come together to help our fellow human. He doesn’t deserve to do this alone, and I want to provide hope and reiterate that the community is here to support him.
The amount to replace the following stolen items necessary for him to work is astronomical; even with using all his savings, taking out a loan, donations are still needed:
Below is a breakdown of costs for used equipment:
Truck with towing capacity: $10,000
Concrete T/A Pump: $20,000-25,000
Hoses $650 per 25ft x 12= $7,800
If you know Clay, well then you know he is the most positive person you’ve ever come in contact with. He is full of energy and can make you laugh within seconds. His smile is contagious, his selflessness is unwavering, and he’s an immediate friend to everyone he meets. Literally would give you the shirt off his back.
We are beyond grateful for those who are in a position to donate or share this story.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact on their journey toward rebuilding and recovery. Thank you for your compassion and support during this unimaginably difficult time. Your love and generosity are deeply appreciated by our entire family.
