Help Clear Silver Creek's $16k Lunch Debt

My name is Jenna Krusich. I am a mom to twin fourth grade girls at Silver Creek Elementary in Toledo, Ohio.

Today I inquired about the unpaid lunch balance at the school in the hopes I could use part of my tax return to help cover it. I learned that only halfway through the school year, the unpaid balance is already $16,008.86.

This puts into perspective how many families in just this one elementary school are struggling. As the year progresses, this debt will only increase and by the time they are seniors it will be an unattainable number and they will be denied their diplomas.

When my return arrives, I will be putting $1000 towards this balance. I am asking that everyone that comes across this GoFundMe please donate. Whether or not you have students at Silver Creek or the Washington Local School District, think of the financial burden these families are facing and consider helping.

There are approximately 653 students at Silver Creek. If every family could contribute just $25 per student in their family, we could more than cover this expense. My children are packers, none of this debt is mine. However, hungry children don’t learn and children that don’t learn will struggle to succeed in life. These families are our neighbors and these children are my children’s friends. This is a community problem that we can all help to solve.
