Help Clifton and Nan Rebuild Their Lives Together

Donation protected
If you ever wanted a story of true love and a hero here it is, Clifton Hollifield of Marion North Carolina. It was so much worse than what I knew for my friends. A huge maple tree and a landslide made Cliff and Nans house fall on them which broke Cliffs back and nose and caused him to black out. Nan was trapped under the rubble of her home. Cliff woke up finally in the morning and climbed half a mile or more over a mountain to find that the landslide blocked all the roads around him. He climbed back up a different direction (all with broken bones and dislocated ribs) through debris and fallen trees to multiple neighboring homes to find help with just his boxers on. He climbed back to his home where his wife was trapped and him and multiple neighbors (not in peak shape like a rescue team mind you but incredibly courageous and dedicated) worked to dig her out for hours. Then they got her and Cliff into a shed where they stayed bloody and broken a whole day and someone climbed down to notify rescue people. The rescue people attempted to come but couldn't make it and left to get more help. Nan and Cliff had half a bottle of water and honey to survive on and literally bees in hive boxes and eachother to keep them warmed. Nans pelvis suffered a crush and she got a big hematoma and kept passing out. Cliff broke his L1 vertebrae and right shin was broken some trying to find help. Nan was trapped for hours and hours and I can't imagine the agony of trying to save your wife climbing mountains naked with broken back and leg and face. Cliff would have done anything and I know it. They laid in that shed together wondering how long it would be or if they would die there together. At some point in the night rescue ems finally made it to them but could only take 1 at a time. Cliff made them take Nan and he hobbled himself through the woods multiple miles I think to the escape vehicle. They were taken to the hospital to be assessed and a drunk man was in there who had simply fallen and was repeatedly wasting oxygen supplies and complaining loudly while all this was happening. They found that Cliff was broken and had to go to Charlotte for surgery. He is at his family's now back in Marion recovering from surgery with Nan. They had no comprehensive insurance on a lot of their stuff and the proof they had it all is buried in the mountain. So that means fema and insurance doesn't replace everything they lost. They lost motorcycles and cars and their home and clothes and furniture and tools and their whole life's worth of belongings. Also their 7 dogs and 2 cats might be buried under that house too and that's the only thing Cliff can think about...when can he go home to call for his dogs. Nan never wants to see it again and I can't blame her. Both of them can't sleep from the nightmares. This man and his family are the salt of the earth. He goes above and beyond like this every day for those he loves. He deserves us to go above and beyond in helping them recover. Please donate to their cause of rebuilding their life together.
