Help Club Unify Replace Stolen T-Shirts
Donation protected
All of our Club T-shirts were stolen... leaving deserving students who have worked all year to support our special needs population, without the recognition they deserve. Here is the story...
Club Unify is an organization that provides both funding and support for students with special needs. This year they have raised a considerable amount of money for the self-contained special education department.
Through their efforts they have provided so many opportunities to students with special needs who are enrolled in the self-contained programming, as well as those particiapting in the Special Olympics. Last year they were a part of the GoFundMe/money raising effort to send Lawrence Robuste to Europe for the World Games. This year, through their efforts, we were able to send students to prom, equip them with warm winter clothing through the holiday season, in addition to providing them with winter gear for the State Winter games in Traverse City. This is in addition to providing funding and support for everyday items that the department needs like money for bus passes, diapers, wipes, curriucular supplies, and so much more.
Recently the club hosted a Disability Awareness Day event that was a huge success. As a reward for the club, we used soem funds that they had raised, to pay for t-shirts for the entire club, as well as some people who support us and help us to make it all happen.. in addition to students who are enrolled in the self-contained department. These t-shirts cost $750 and were expertly made by Midwest Graphics & Awards Inc in Dexter, MI.
The day before we were to hold the event, My rental vehicle was stolen out of my driveway and with it, all of the t-shirts, in addition to $2,000 worth of lacrosse equipment that belonged to my son. The police have had no luck in finding the car and the items inside. So, all of those students will now lose out on the t-shirt they not only raised money for, but clearly deserved.
It is my hope that this GoFundMe will help to pay for a new order of t-shirts. If there happens to be money left over, we will simply order more t-shirts so that we have some for future members.
