Help Indie Author Spread Kindness for Kids
Donation protected
Hi, I’m C.M. Harris, a passionate children’s author dedicated to creating books celebrating diversity and friendship. My first book, ‘What If We Were All The Same!’, has touched the hearts of many children and parents. I’m excited to bring you the second book in the series, ‘What If We Were All Friends!’, and your support is greatly appreciated.
I am in the process of writing and editing the next two books in this wonderful series, 'What If We Were All Kind!' The fourth will be a surprise. The donated money will not only help print the books but will also allow me to continue visiting Title I elementary schools and sharing the wonders of being a good friend and disability awareness.
Your donation will go a long way.
Your Donation Will Allow Us To:
- Print the fun children's book in bulk, allowing a higher print quality and lower customer retail pricing for you
- Donate books to low-income schools and offer an author visit
- Create lesson plans and teaching resources to coincide with our stories

Project Details:
Printing overseas will allow me to produce high-quality books at a lower cost, enabling me to reach more children with this inspiring story. ‘What If We Were All Friends!’ is about celebrating friendship and inclusivity, teaching kids the value of kindness and understanding.”
Accolades for the First Book:
My first book in the series has received incredible recognition. The San Francisco 49ers purchased over 2,000 copies and donated them to the Oakland school district in 2021. It was also featured on the BBC CBeebies show and has received numerous reviews from teachers, being chosen as a ‘teacher’s pick’ on Amazon .”
Personal Story and Challenges:
I was born with a neuromuscular condition called Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease and have overcome many challenges; at the age of 22, I became dependent on an electric wheelchair but did not allow this to stop me from earning my degree and starting a career. In 2015, I was diagnosed with the "suicide disease," but I continued not to let these many challenges stop me from reaching my goals.
In 2019, after three unsuccessful years of gaining employment, I decided to write my first children's book and have been in go mode ever since. In 2022, I contracted COVID-19 and nearly lost my life. The recovery process took a year, forcing me to step back from my work and causing a drastic drop in sales. After the difficult recovery, I learned that I was much stronger than I realized, and through the doubts, I knew that I needed to continue this journey as best I could. My goal is to continue writing stories that motivate and inspire children of all ages and visit schools to share my story, provide disability awareness, and teach children that they can achieve their goals.
I LOVE SCHOOL AUTHOR VISITS
Impact:
My books have been praised for their positive messages and beautiful illustrations. Here’s what one parent had to say about ‘What If We Were All The Same!’: ‘This book has become a bedtime favorite. It teaches my child to appreciate differences and be kind to everyone.’”
