Help Coach Bruce Hastie Heal from Brain Cancer!

Hi, my name is Terra Lopez, and I am writing this on behalf of the incredible Hastie family.

For nearly 40 years, Coach Bruce Hastie has been a staple in the Northern California water polo & swimming community. Bruce has been the owner of Sacramento Water Polo since the 1980s. Over the years, he has also held several head coach positions at Fulton El Camino, Loomis Basin, and Mira Loma. He spent many years at Jesuit High School, where he founded the water polo program and taught English before becoming Assistant Dean. In 2009, he became the head coach of Sierra College Men's Water Polo and Swim Programs. Throughout his years in the community, Coach Hastie has touched thousands of athletes through his relentless passion for teaching and inspiring. His impact on the lives of student-athletes from all over the world is undeniable.

On May 6, Bruce had emergency brain surgery at Kaiser Permanente on Morse Ave. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma. The majority of the tumor was removed, but it was discovered that the cancer had spread to his spine. He is in good spirits, and we are continuing to have faith that all will be well. As Bruce likes to say, we will continue to "presume the good."

Bruce, his wife Eileen, and children Kelsie, Jake, Luke, Sam, and Jordan, have a very long road ahead. All donations will be given directly to Bruce and Eileen to help with meals, general expenses, anticipated surgeries, treatments, therapies, and the inevitable medical bills that will come with fighting this. Bruce is a fighter, and cancer will NOT win this fight.

Bruce has one of the biggest hearts and cares for all of his players, friends, family and fellow coaches. It is now our time to come together and rally around our Coach to give him the strength, love, and support he has always given to all of us.
