Coach Christina McClain and Family Support Fund

Dear community, friends and family,
We sincerely hope this finds you and your family safe, healthy and well in this unprecedented time in which we are all living. As some of you might have already learned, on top of living with her family in the epicenter of a worldwide pandemic, coach Christina McClain has recently been fired from her job as head coach of the CPNY girls competitive gymnastics team. And, in addition, USA Gymnastics has imposed an interim suspension on her membership. This is the result not of an investigation, or a thorough vetting of the facts, circumstances and individuals involved, but instead solely because of accusations of misconduct made against her relating to USA Gymnastics and Safe Sport regulations.
Although as mentioned, it doesn’t appear as of yet that either USA Gymnastics or Safe Sport has completed, or even commenced, an investigation into the veracity of the allegations made against coach McClain, the effect of her suspension seems to have resulted in a complete and absolute disregard for her rights to due process and a fair adjudication based on evidence and the merits of the claims that have been made against her. In effect, she is being pre-judged and punished with her reputation as a coach, and the livelihood with which she supports her family taken away from her even before she has been given an opportunity to speak on her own behalf.
We completely understand that all of us are living in uncertain and troubling times with the ongoing health crisis surrounding us. Some of us have lost our jobs, savings, and even much more over the last few months. We’re not asking for you to put yourself into any kind of hardship to help. Any amount that you contribute, whether, great or small, will be appreciated by coach Christina and her family more than you can imagine. Because these types of proceedings can take months if not years, the funds collected will go directly to help coach Christina keep up with her bills, continue to provide for her two young children and to also try to secure the aid of legal representation in order to protect her rights to due process and a fair proceeding guided by facts and not accusations.
Coach Chris has dedicated her life, energy and heart to working with athletes and helping athletes and their families for the last 25 years. Whether you are a coach, a parent or a friend who has known and worked with her at some point during her coaching career, we sincerely hope you understand that what is happening to her can happen to any coach. While we understand that this is a sensitive issue, no one deserves to have their life derailed and career destroyed without at least being afforded basic rights such as a fair and impartial proceeding before the imposition of a punishment that will ruin their life forever.
We greatly appreciate you reading this and truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can provide.
