Help Coach Ramer win against CMML!
Donation protected
Mike Ramer, a long time Antigo resident, was recently diagnosed with CMML (Leukemia) & will need to undergo a stem cell transplant within the next few weeks, as this is the only cure for his cancer. Mike will need to be admitted into UW Madison for 5 weeks for his transplant procedure. Other treatments for him are unknown at this time, but will be discussed in the near future.
Who is Mike, you ask? Well, if you've ever met him, you wouldn't forget him. He's a husband, a father, a Pops to many. A son, a brother & an overall hard working family man. Mike started up the Antigo Stallions baseball team in 2001 & was a long time coach for various leagues (county league & Legion ball) prior to that. The Stallions program is still going strong to this day. He has given so much of his life volunteering his time for others & now it's our turn to help.
So, how can you help?
1. Monetary donations are definitely appreciated right now. Mike will need to be off of work for at least 12 months after the transplant. Travel expenses for him & his wife, Janelle, along with hospital bills will add up quickly. Stem cell transplants have many costs that aren't covered by insurance. You can donate via this GoFundMe or through the benefit bank account that will be set up shortly (we will post the bank details when they are available).
2. Order a free cheek swab from Be the Match to see if you are a match to be Mike's stem cell donor. He needs an O or B blood type donor; there are 8 markers that need to be hit to be his perfect match. It's free, easy & painless. https://bethematch.org/
3. If you are the praying type, please pray that this process is as pain free as possible & effective for Mike.
Once a donor is found & dates are set, we will continue to update on Mike's progress over the course of treatment.
