Time for some honesty. Not sure if everyone knows, but I was diagnosed with Diabetic Retinopathy right after having COVID in 2021. Since then, it's been an upward battle.

In June of last year, I had a major rupture in my left eye and lost about 40 percent of my vision in that eye. It took over a year to gain about 10 percent of that back. Now, a week ago, my right eye ruptured. My vision, to be frank, is screwed. I have done my best to control my diabetes and stay on a path medically to prolong my vision, but due to having terrible/no insurance for the last 7 years, that hasn't been possible.

I've been able to get by using readers, magnification apps on my phone, and my husband to drive me around, but it's getting increasingly difficult and I have had to file for disability. Every day I wake up, I fear that I'll be blind when I open my eyes. Because of all this, Drew and I have struggled tremendously all while trying to stay positive. However, I cannot even work at the moment. I live with constant anxiety and the fear of what I won't get to see. So I'm asking for help. We can't afford groceries, our phone bills, car payments, utilities, and have exhausted every loan situation. I have gotten on Medicaid; however, not all my procedures are covered, and I was denied food stamps and cash assistance. Disability will most likely take forever, or I'll be denied. So if anyone out there has expertise navigating disability or has real concrete help, we need it. Please. Anything you can do helps.
