help colin pay his back rent and keep his home

Hey, my name is Colin. I made this GoFundMe as a last ditch effort to avoid getting evicted. I’ve tried every other avenue for fixing this situation, but now I need to ask for help. My lease is up on August 1st (in just a few days) and I’m 4 months behind on rent. This has been snowballing for some time—it started a few months ago when my best friend passed away. Then my partner lost their job and hasn’t been able to find new work or qualify for unemployment. We’ve both been struggling financially since then, everything’s been really stressful.

Our landlord has offered to let us renew our lease and stay in our home, provided we can pay him for next month’s rent in full, along with an initial payment on a payment plan for the past due rent (we owe $6215). If we can’t get this money together right now, our he won’t offer a month-to-month lease and will move to remove us from our home a month from now, once the moratorium is up.

We’ve tried everything to get rent assistance on our own, but we’ve gotten nowhere. This GoFundMe is a last-ditch effort because our situation has become an emergency and we’re days away from not having a lease. Moving would be very difficult for us: we have bad credit, 3 pets, and we can’t afford it regardless.

I’m asking for $3000 so that we will have enough money to pay our landlord with, ($1900 + a $600 initial payment for a payment plan) after GoFundMe’s fees.
