Colleen Dodson has spent close to 20 years raising funds for various non profit organizations including Boyer Children's Clinic, Bridge Disability Ministries and Flying House Productions. One of the things I admire about Colleen is that she chose this path instead of pursuing a more traditional corporate career, forgoing the latter's benefits of health insurance and other incentives to work towards creating a better world for those in need. She has played an active role as an agent for change.
At this time in her life, Colleen is the one in need of assistance. Though you wouldn’t know it by the smile on her face, she endures chronic pain on a daily basis. A diagnosis of both hemi-dystonia (a movement disorder) and fibromyalgia was further complicated when she was involved in a major auto accident several years ago. Over the years, she has worked hard to hide these afflictions and has perservered in spite of them, however, recent circumstances have brought about severe challenges.
Last spring, Colleen and I moved to Cincinnati with plans to start a new life together. Financial difficulties hit us when finding sufficient employment did not go as quickly as we had hoped it would, and as a result, we found ourselves in a position that often made it impossible to afford the medications required to manage her health conditions, creating a negative domino effect on her physical health and overall well being. A difficult decision was made, requiring that we part ways. As Colleen is still technically under the care of physicians located in Seattle, she felt that it was logical for her to return there as we did not have the resources to replace the necessary specalists that her pyhsical conditions require. Additionally, employment prospects are deemed more attainable in an environment where she has a longstanding network of friends and acquaintances. She is now back in the PNW and is currently staying with friends on a temporary basis until she can afford to find permanent housing. Though she is seeking employment, at this time she has no income or savings and is in dire need of financial assistance to cover the cost of her basic living expenses, medications and doctor’s visits, etc. Your contribution will help her get back on her feet and will be greatly appreciated.
