Help Complete the Cat Barn Before Winter

Cat Barn Update!
Exciting progress to share: the knee high walls have been poured! We’re beyond grateful for the help of friend, Kristen Caci's partner, Chris Keeney, who generously volunteered to work on the concrete knee-high walls and cement pad. And a thank you to our Founder and Board President, Samantha MacIntyre's husband, Ryan MacIntyre for his support in keeping things moving after a few setbacks.

After a major delay with our previous builder, we took a step back to reassess, determined to find the right person to keep this project going. With winter around the corner, we needed a reliable partner to help get the barn under roof. Fortunately, our neighbor Eric McCabe with McCabe's Construction LLC, stepped in after hearing about our situation. Eric, who’s worked with some of our board members’ families, was kind enough to offer his support and help manage costs. We wanted someone who truly cared about making a difference, and Eric has been that person.
Adam Buchmoyer with Buchmoyer Electric will be working on the electric to help us keep costs affordable.

To date, we’ve spent $20,000 not including the $5,000 in attorney and zoning fees in order to operate. Rapho Township voted in favor for this great need for our local communities.
Below is a breakdown of those expenses.
• Removal of 15 trees
• Stump grinder with insurance and trailer rental
• Excavation (Mountainside Excavating)
• Stone delivery for the concrete pad
• Payment to the previous builder
• Excavator rental
• Concrete footers
• Digging, soil movement, and concrete prep with skid loader and laser rental
• Lumber, insulation, nails, screws from Lowe’s (discounted)
• Concrete for knee high walls
• Labor

Next steps: We need around $8,000 for framing, trusses, roof and shingles, then we will have another fundraiser to help raise funds for the siding, garage door, HVAC, electrical, and final concrete work. Our goal is to raise $10,000 before winter. If just 250 of our amazing followers contribute $40 each, we will meet that goal! We’re so close and incredibly excited to create a safe, organized space for our work.

This new space will make all the difference in our efforts, especially given that we’ve paused operations until the barn is complete. For those who know the work we’re doing, including TNR, every bit helps us prevent suffering and create better outcomes. Some recent losses have been tough, but we remain focused on the lives we can change.

Thank you all for being with us on this journey—our community is truly what keeps us going. We’re endlessly grateful for your support!

Our mission is to promote animal welfare and humane population control of community cats.
