helping Connor on his journey with autism

Hi everyone!

I'm Becky, Connor's Aunty. I am helping my sister Emily (Connor's mum) raise money on behalf of Connor to get him an specially trained autism assistant dog.

Connor was born in 2016. This gorgeous, little monkey grow up in his family home in Derby with mum and dad (Jimmy).

Connor was diagnosed with autism in 2020. He is non-verbal and has PICA. Getting him diagnosed was the first stepping stone for Connor getting more support and understanding but we still have a long way to go.

His autism contributes to him being unaware of the dangers around him. His parents are always on high alert in busy areas, out-and-about and this gets harder the older he gets.

Family and school are there for Connor but he would gain some independence, he would feel safe and have a non-verbal friend with an assistant dog. Connor loves all animals but especially dogs! 

Fast forward to July 2022...

Connor has been accepted to the assessment stage of getting an assistant dog through a charity called 'Supporting Paws'. Only 10% of applicants make it this far and they're truly thankful and grateful.

The assessment stage costs £250. But! If this stage is successful the assistant dog will cost £10,000! All of this money will be going to the 'Supporting Paws' charity. 

We are raising these funds as Connor's parents work hard (Emily is Connor's carer) but don't have this kind of money. We realise this is a lot of money but we wouldn't ask if we didn't think this would change and benefit their lives for the better. Please if you can support them, it would be appreciated.

An assistant dog would change this family's lives and give Connor the much deserved friend as he does not have any human friends or siblings. We have gone down the traditional routes into getting a dog but get denied because of Connor's autism.
