Help Coop Recover After Amputation Surgery

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart but also with hope in my heart. My beloved cat, Coop, was involved in a terrible accident on November 10th when our dog, Chesty, accidentally jumped on him and broke his back leg. After a night at the emergency vet, Coop was able to come home, but his road to recovery has been far from easy.

Despite my best efforts, Coop's leg was too severely damaged to be reconstructed, and my veterinarian has recommended amputation as the best course of action. The surgery is scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving, and I am doing everything I can to prepare Coop for this life-changing procedure.

Coop is currently in pain, and I am managing it with medications and rest. However, his restlessness at night has made sleep nearly impossible for both him and me. Additionally, helping a cat with a cast use the litter box has proven to be a challenging task. I am grateful that I can work from home and provide a calm environment for Coop during the day, but he requires constant supervision as the pain medication wears off.

The emergency vet bill has already exceeded $2,000, and the upcoming surgery is estimated to cost the same or even more. After being unemployed during the summer, I am still catching up on my finances, and the additional expenses are becoming overwhelming. However, I am incredibly thankful for my vet and their staff, who are doing their best to minimize costs wherever possible.
