Cora's Medical Costs Fighting Serous Carcinoma

Donation protected

My sister is a selfless woman who has given so much to this world: the children of her community, the Church community, and her tireless devotion to public service.

Cora has been an educator for the past 35 years, and the last 20 years she's been the principal in one of the poorest villages of Leon, Iloilo, in the Philippines.

She has devoted her lifetime to educating children of villages who were less fortunate – she would travel for miles each morning to reach the children in the mountainous areas of Leon either by walking or taking any means of transport necessary rain or shine. Cora is well known in the community coming from a compassionate family of educators.

In her career, she has facilitated numerous projects in the schools where she was assigned like new school buildings, computer rooms, libraries, a nutrition program, and other initiatives that generated income for the school. Teaching is Cora’s passion and she really loved her profession. Her former students admire her professionalism, vision, and dedication as an educator. She is a gracious, wonderful, loving woman and made a profound impact for her community through her selfless service.

As an active community leader, she has coordinated social events like town fiestas, fairs, sports events, and other activities that fostered community.

Cora is also a woman of great faith. She is an active member of the church choir at St. Catherine of Alexandria parish, where she has served as an officer in the pastoral council.

Recently, Cora was diagnosed with serous ovarian carcinoma and has been undergoing chemotherapy. Currently, being hospitalized due to complications of the disease, she has had to use her savings to pay her medical bills since her health insurance coverage is not sufficient to cover the expenses. She is 5 years short of retirement age and cannot even avail her retirement benefits to help with the costs. Most of her hospital expenses are out of pocket and needs to be paid in advance in order to get treated.

Cora is now fighting for her survival, but the mounting hospital expenses are a burden that we want to lessen. She asked everyone in her circle to pray for her recovery and we are raising funds to help cover her hospitalization, medication, laboratory work, radiology exams, and doctors’ professional fees.

If you are able to donate, thank you. If not, please post and share.
