Help Corbin in the fight for his life!

Donation protected
My brother, Corbin Sweet has recently been diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening form of bone marrow cancer called Myelofibrosis. It is a form of Leukemia that disrupts the body’s normal production of blood cells. The result is extensive scarring in the bone marrow, leading to severe anemia, weakness, fatigue, and an enlarged liver and spleen. Though there are medications to reduce the symptoms, the only known cure is a stem cell transplant. If left untreated, this cancer is fatal.
Corbin had not been feeling well for some time before he finally gave in and went to the doctor. After many appointments and numerous tests, Corbin received the devastating and life-changing diagnosis that no one is ever prepared to hear.
This cancer has already had a physical, emotional, and financial impact on Corbin. He has an 8-year-old daughter, Kinleigh, that needs her daddy, so he’s determined to fight this dreadful disease. God willing, he will come out victorious!
Corbin will begin the scariest part of this battle by undergoing a risky, yet necessary, stem cell transplant. He is blessed to have 2 brothers who are both 100% donor matches. After a long and hard-fought leg wrestling contest between the two, Corbin's brother Brian was chosen as the donor! It may not have gone exactly like that, but it does make for a much better story!
Corbin will be admitted on January 18th to the hospital at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. He will be hospitalized for 30+ days, which will include intense chemo, the transplant itself, and then recovery. When Corbin is released from the hospital, he’s required to live nearby with a caregiver for an additional 2 months.
Even after he’s allowed to return home, Corbin will have a very long road of recovery ahead and will be immunocompromised for the first year. He will continue to have many doctors’ appointments and much more testing, which will include regular trips out of town. Besides the physical impact of this cancer, the financial impact is huge! Due to Corbin’s line of work and the possibility of a life-threatening infection, his doctor has recommended that he takes a year off from work. Corbin is self-employed, so this time off means no income for that year.
Though Corbin has health insurance, it barely scratches the surface of the cost of the illness. Donations will be used to help Corbin with the medical, travel, and daily living expenses that he will incur as he goes through this treacherous and unpredictable journey.
A huge thank you on behalf of Corbin and our family for everyone who is able to help. We are forever grateful!
