Help Corinne attend the Juniper Writing Institute
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Corinne. I am a full-time program administrator for two cultural centers at a university and a poet. This week, I was accepted into the Juniper Summer Writing Institute at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. This is an incredible opportunity!
The Juniper Summer Writing Institute is a week-long program described as “an opportunity to practice living with your art at the center of your life, a week to imagine with wild invention as you mingle, experiment, and take chances.”
During my time at Juniper, I will be attending workshops, craft classes, public readings and learning under some nationally recognized poets, many of whom I have admired for years. In particular, I will be in a workshop under Diana Khoi Nguyen, a poet and multimedia artist working at the intersection of text and image. I am currently working on my first poetry collection, which is a hybrid of text, visual, and interactive components for readers.
To attend this prestigious program, I will need to pay out-of-pocket for the full tuition, travel expenses, and room/board costs, which is not possible without assistance. Unfortunately, no more funding is available. I am able to cover the flight and any additional expenses, but I need help with the following expenses:
Breakdown of expenses:
Tuition: $2,050
Travel to the UMass Amherst campus (an hour from airport): $150
Room and board: $318
This one-of-a-kind program will help me take another step in my career as a poet, an endeavor I have pursued for years. Currently, I am halfway through a seven-month poetry workshop at the Attic Institute with poet David Biespel. My poetry can be found in numerous publications, including Cirque Journal, Fireweed: Poetry of Oregon, and Black Sunflowers Poetry Press. I currently serve as a reader for Palette Poetry, and I facilitate a writing workshop for youth with Write Around Portland.
Your contribution, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and will help me be able to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Thank you all so, so much.
Warmly,
Corinne
