Help Cornelius in honour of Gus & Poppy

Yesterday, on the 10th of October 2023, our family was devastated with a call that would change our lives forever.

Our home on the hill of Cornelius Crescent, Healesville was an oasis of love and hard work put in by our mother Dee and bonus father Andrew. Everyone was always welcome and had a place in our home, with many memories shared with those we love.

Across the past 6 years, we’ve giggled at their ‘tree change’ comments as we watched their love build our beautiful family home.

We never expected the tragedy of events that transpired yesterday.

Our home, and two beautiful dogs Gus and Poppy were lost to a burning fire as we were forced to stand by and watch our heart break in front of us.

My parents and sibling left with only the clothes on their back.

The heart-wrenching feelings of devastation as we watched our lives change before us forever.

There are truly no words to describe what our family is going through.

We are incredibly grateful that we have each other no one was hurt.

We are devastatingly heartbroken to have lost two incredibly special pillars of our family in Gus and Poppy. Our beautiful fur babies didn’t deserve this.

The physical items that can be replaced, the irreplaceable items that can’t.

The years of hard work crumbling in front of us.

We are incredibly thankful to Healesville, Lilydale and Badger Creek CFA, and family, friends and neighbours that were present on the day and the ongoing messages of support.

In the honour of our beautiful fur babies Gus and Poppy, any donation to support my parents in the immediate is received with the upmost gratitude as we mourn and prepare to enter this new chapter of lives.
