Help Cory and family with expenses while he heals
Donation protected
On Saturday afternoon Cory and his family were enjoying a fire in their backyard in Salmon Arm, when suddenly a jerry can exploded and parts of Cory’s body caught fire. His right hand/arm, stomach and face were covered in flames and the ambulance was called. Thankfully with the help of his family they were able to get the fire out, but Cory was badly burnt and needed to be transported to hospital for assessment.
Cory was airlifted from Salmon Arm to Kamloops on Saturday where he was treated for burns, some third degree. His partner Jess followed to Kamloops by car and their little guy Bennett stayed back with Grandma and Grandpa. On Sunday, Cory was told he’d need to see a plastic surgeon in Vancouver and so was again airlifted to Vancouver General to see a specialist in the burn unit. His partner Jess returned to Salmon Arm to pick up Bennett and Grandma Marcy and headed to Vancouver to support Cory.
After an assessment from the surgeon in Vancouver and fresh wrapping on the wounds Cory was discharged, but was told he needed to stay close and return to the hospital on Wednesday to discuss next steps. The burns on Cory’s stomach and hand/arm are currently the burns of most concern, and a skin graft surgery is likely the next step.
For those of you that don’t know, Cory is a mechanic and works with his hands on a daily basis. The healing process is going to take some time and the family could use some help to remove some of stress not being able to work will have financially. Already there have been expenses from gas, food, hotels, etc.
Cory and Jess would never ask for the help themselves, so we’re doing it for them. We want Cory to heal fully and not feel pressured to go back to work too soon and push himself before he’s ready. If you’re able to offer something - thank you! And if not, simply sending their family good vibes is appreciated! :)
