Help Cory Wells Save Grace

Donation protected

Cory Wells has helped abused, forgotten, neglected animals for years...now his own beloved Grace needs ICU treatment or she will die. Please help us help Cory save his own very first Afghan Hound by giving whatever you can manage.

Grace became sick on Saturday morning (5/2/20 and was seen by her vet. They did X-rays and bloodwork. Felt it was just upset GIand dehydration from vomiting and sent her home with meds and Fluids to be given over the weekend. She continued to decline and on Monday (5/4/20) they repeated xrays and determined she had a blockage. The clinic was technically closed but Dr. Herd agreed to do the emergency surgery.  After surgery Herd explained it was one of the worst surgeries. Grace was in critical condition and didn’t breath on her on while in surgery and her Blood pressure ran around 30 the entire time.

Monday afternoon hours after surgery she still wasn’t waking up so Cory transferred her to the local speciality clinic for ICU care.

Tuesday (5/5/20) Grace became responsive and started waking up. Her blood pressure and heart rate wasn’t stable and she was unable to stabilize her blood glucose on her own. They placed a stomach tube in through her nose to pull off the fluid from her stomach and added medications to try and stabilize her.

Wednesday (5/6/20) She is more stable butstill unable to regulate her glucose on her own and still not eating. Her stomach is still collecting a large amount of bile and she vomited once.  Over night her glucose dropped so they had to up here Dextrose (meds to regulate the glucose) and was able to get it back within normal range that way.Still not out of the woods.

Thursday (5/7/20) Grace is much more stable and things are looking up but still in ICU. They took her off the Dextrose for her glucose around 11am and it’s holding in the “low-normal” range which is normal after all she’s been through. She has started eating some and they have removed the tube. She will remain in ICU at least one more day and IF all goes well she can come home tomorrow afternoon. She will be on prescription food, lots of meds, crate rest, and have several follow ups for ultrasounds and bloodwork just to ensure everything is still going well.
