Help Cosmo live his final days comfortably

A little over a year ago, the sweetest little floofy angel came into my life. Even though I was still reeling from the loss of my 15 year-old cat Lyra to lymphoma in Nov ‘21, I agreed to foster this FeLV+ kitty for a bit while he awaited transfer to a rescue org.

The moment he walked into my place, he made himself right at home and showered me with love and snuggles, and stole my heart before I even had a chance to realize it.

I knew I was taking a risk with my decision to keep him due to his FeLV+ status.

I had meant to do this sooner, but I knew I was approaching is 1-year mark with me so I’ve been spending the last several weeks researching insurance and vet discount plans for him, and places where I could establish primary care for him.

However, he just fell ill before I could secure a policy for him. Stopped eating as much as he does, started hiding/sleeping more, his fur changed textures…

So on Saturday 7/1, I took him to an urgent care vet - they did blood work and it didn’t look good.

They sent me to an emergency vet, and he stayed overnight.

He has a fever, is anemic and his liver levels are too high.

The prognosis isn’t good - the doctors feel that with his FeLV+ status, these are signs of this disease taking the upper hand.

We can do our best to make him as comfortable as possible with appetite stimulants and other medicine, but he will eventually need a more compassionate decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge.

This is setting me back thousands of dollars that I don’t have - plus I am going on Short Term Disability next month as I face my rapist in federal court.

To say things are stressful right now would be an understatement. I am beyond devastated and heartbroken, and I feel like the worst person and cat mom ever.

I hate asking, but truly anything helps at this point. I’m about $1.5k-$2k short for his hospital stay.

I don’t qualify for Care Credit, Scratch Pay, and have spent the weekend applying for every loan possible and getting denied.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide, whether that’s financial or just moral support.
