Este 7 Agosto en Panamá se correrán los Juegos Panamericanos 2022, los cuales lastimosamente en esta ocasión fueron presentados hace 2 meses atrás y esto nos pone a correr si queremos ver la tricolor ondeando en el evento. La empresa privada es vital ya que por medio del gobierno estos presupuestos se asignan con 1 año de anticipación y para esta ocasión no fue posible contar con ellos, por lo que para los atletas nacionales top del ranking de los últimos eventos Federados:

Yesterday, 26 July, we heard the news that the Costa Rican Surfing Federation does not have the funds this year to send athletes to the 2022 Panamerican Games in Panama, which begin on August 8th.

The event organizers announced the dates in May of 2022, three months before the event, which is not enough time to apply for funds. We do not want to go into too many details and start pointing fingers because we want to focus our energy and support on the ATHLETES now!

Our goal is to get the Costa Rican team to the Surfing games. We all want to help and support the ATHLETES as individuals and representatives of Costa Rica, a small but fierce surfing nation.

The athletes who qualify to compete in the Pan American Surfing Games are the top 2-4 surfers in the Costa Rican Surf Federation classification per category. According to the amount raised, the priority will be given to the highest ranked surfers needing financial help and then so on. All athletes have been contacted to ensure they can participate and intend to go if they have the necessary funding.

We aim to have Costa Rica fully represented at the Pan American Surfing Games. We have been given a time restraint of fewer than ten days to raise these funds, but if you can help and support the team in any way, please do! Donating, sharing this page, and bringing more awareness to the situation are all ways to help us achieve our goal!

Costa Rica has the opportunity to represent the following categories with the total surfers per category mentioned to the left.

To choose the athletes:

-Top 4 overall ranked in Open Men and Open Women in 2022 Challenger Series -June 2022 Federacion de Surf Event in Santa Teresa will select the Longboarders

-SUP athletes will be at the discretion of the SUP Association.
