Help Courage get his Surgery

Hi my name is Hunter & I am raising money for my pup & best friend to get his surgery.

 

Courage was seen by his primary vet in November & we were referred to an oncologist because they noticed some worrisome lumps and issues with him. I took courage to the oncologist early February where they found that he has a growing mast cell tumor on his ankle, 2 masses on his spleen & an anal gland tumor - all 3 need to be removed. I have already spent 3,500$ on diagnosis to ensure that the cancer hasn’t spread throughout his body & the amazing news is that it hasn’t. His lymph nodes are cancer free & we did full body X-rays & ultrasounds to make sure he wasn’t suffering elsewhere. Long story short the tumors in his spleen & anal gland need to be removed as soon as possible because they are essentially ticking time bombs. The mast cell tumor needs to be removed as well but isn’t as urgent as the others. Dogs with benign spleen tumors are still at risk for rupture at any time & the anal gland tumor has a high chance of spreading cancer into the rest of his body if not removed. The good thing is all the diagnostics I’ve done already give him a very good outcome if we can get him the surgery. I know he has YEARS left, but he won’t if he doesn’t get this operation. I have already exhausted my savings for his diagnostics & can only finance a portion of the bill for his surgery. I will include a much more detailed breakdown in the photos of this page. SAGE oncology has given me an estimate of 11,000-12,000 dollars total. I am here humbly asking for help, if I can raise just 5,000$ of this total, I would be forever grateful. I can’t schedule the surgery without this money on hand and my CareCredit is getting close to being maxed out after all the diagnostics. If there is anything I’ve learned in this life is that there is still compassionate people out there; all you have to do is reach out & ask for help.

 

For those who don’t know, I adopted courage in February 2017 and this month will be our 5th year together. I found him at a pound in Buffalo New York where he had been abandoned by his previous owners after their home became an animal hoard because all of their pets were not fixed. He spent his first 5 years of life living on a concrete patio in a backyard with 20+ other dogs. Courage and I hit the ground running & never looked back. He has been to 10+ states with me, swam in both the pacific & the Atlantic oceans, walked the streets of New Orleans, played in countless waterfalls, rivers and even Lake Tahoe. We have galavanted in golden gate park San Francisco, crossed the United States in my mustang, and slept squished together on many couches when we had no bed. He has never met a stranger, he loves everyone & every animal he meets. He helps me foster litters of kittens & is the all around BEST most loving dog I’ve ever come across. Courage is my most loyal companion and I refuse to give up on him. He has a great prognosis with the surgery & a scary one without.

I am working very hard to get Courage what he needs and will continuously update as much as I can. I want it noted that this is only 1 surgeons estimate & I will be shopping around trying to find a veterinary surgeon who is reputable to do it for less. I appreciate any pointers!
