UPDATE 3/30/24: March 27th, Courtney had her surgery. It went as well as it possibly could have. The surgeon was able to remove the whole tumor!! We are so thankful!! Courtney has been able to walk assisted and has retained all memory and functions! She still has some recovering to do but is doing well for now!!! Thank you everyone for your support!!!

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren, I am putting together this go fund me for my sister-in-law, Courtney. Courtney is a single mother of three kids. She is a registered dietician for Saint Francis and is currently working toward her master’s degree.
For the past several months she has been experiencing consistent migraines but no other symptoms. January 10th, 2024, she passed out and began seizing during a normal day’s work. She was taken to the ER where a scan revealed she had a mass on her brain. She was admitted to the hospital and the doctors started to work on a diagnosis. She was originally told that the mass was a cancerous tumor and she could have two months to live unless she started chemo and radiation, which could give her a couple years. As anyone could imagine, it was devastating news for her and her family. As time went on the diagnoses changed. It was said that it could just be an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis (MS). Our hopes were raised and then destroyed again. Numerous tests, CT's, MRI's, a spinal tap and a little over two months later, no one discovered what kind of tumor it is. Her lab work has been sent to several different labs and medical centers and no one can diagnose it. While one doctor has said it is not cancerous, she has been experiencing increased severity in her other symptoms. Her eyesight and ability to walk have been intermittent along with constant, worsening migraines that have not been getting any better. Due to the aggressiveness and the increased swelling of the tumor, a surgeon at MD Anderson has recommended that the surgery be done sooner rather than later.
The surgeon at MD Anderson in Houston will be performing a craniotomy on March 27th. She will have 2 days in the ICU followed by a few weeks of recovery in Houston. I am putting this go fund me together to help my sister-in-law with all related expenses. As everyone knows, medical bills are not cheap and being a single mother is not easy. On top of medical bills, if everything goes well with Courtney's surgery, she will have a long road to recovery, learning how to walk, talk and take care of herself again. She is so loved by all her family and friends. Everyone has been so amazing helping her in any way they can from organizing dinner to helping to get her kids to and from school, and so much more. We are so grateful of all the help received so far and so thankful for any future help.
I will continue to post updates as we find out more. Thank you everyone for your love, prayers, and support.
