Help cover a trans woman's move and transition
Hi there, I'm Kelly. I'm a trans woman at the start of her transition and... I need some help. IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO DO THIS. But do this I must, because I'm afraid I can't get where I wanna be on my own.
I've known or suspected I was transgender for the better part of the past two decades and I tried to bury that knowledge for just as long. The result was that I dug myself a deep depressing hole and tried to live in it (OMG that was a mistake). I'm done with that. I'm finally willing to accept me for who I am and I started feminizing hormones in September 2019. Thing is, I've been living with family and, though I love them very much, I do not feel comfortable in their presence as I begin my transition. I doubt very much they would be comfortable with me either.
I gotta move. But that depression has made it difficult for me to find good employment and I need some help to make that move possible.
I also want to begin living full-time as me and that's... not a cheap proposition.
In addition to helping me find a better place to live, any donations would help pay for trans-related expenses and care like:
- HRT medications, many of them not fully covered by insurance
- legal name and gender changes on my documents
- surgeries, much of which insurance considers 'cosmetic' so it won't cover
- wardrobe update
- potentially voice lessons
I'm still mostly closeted socially and I can't ask friends and relatives for help like I wish I could. It's been very difficult doing this alone and in secret. But pretty soon, the secret is coming out and so am I. And when that time comes, I could really use some assistance helping me get outta here so I can live a better, more authentic life.
You have no idea how grateful I would be for your help. I'm an emotional mess writing this message. If I can find my own place and just... live as me? I would be so happy. So very, very happy.
