In Loving Memory of Arturo Javier Angarita
Born on September 17, 2019, at just 24 weeks, Arturo was a true fighter. Against all odds, he thrived, bringing joy and love to his family—his mother, Estefania Chiong, his father, Leonardo Angarita Cortes, and big brother, Leonidas Angarita.
Tragically, on November 13, 2024, Arturo’s bright light was taken too soon.
Arturo, a happy and joyful 5-year-old boy, was on the Autism spectrum. Like many children with autism, Arturo had a tendency to “elope”—a behavior where children instinctively run off or wander, often without warning. It’s a well-known challenge for parents of children on the spectrum. On that fateful day, Arturo was at “Senses,” a park in Kissimmee, FL, specifically designed for children with special needs. Leonardo (his father) specifically drove 40 minutes to this park due to the fact this park is catered to children with special needs. However, the park was not fully enclosed, and visibility was severely limited due to thick trees and shrubs surrounding the area.
Despite being a park intended to keep kids safe, there were no safeguards in place to prevent a child from slipping through a huge gap in the fencing. Arturo managed to slip through an unsecured gate and unfortunately fell to his demise.
Our family is devastated. What was supposed to be a simple afternoon outing to the park turned into an unimaginable loss. As we struggle to cope, we ask for your prayers and love as we navigate this heart-wrenching journey.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers!
