Help Cover Candace's Funeral Expenses

To the family, friends, and community surrounding Candace Hindmon Houck,

It is with shock and a heavy heart that I create this Go Fund Me.

Candace passed away on July 18, 2024. I’ve been good friends with her older sister, Christina Gilbert, for many years now, and I can only imagine how it must feel getting the phone call that your baby sister has left this earth unexpectedly.

I knew Candace to be a really warm, sweet, caring, beautiful soul. She seemed to always try to do right by others. She was genuine, wildly artistic, brave, expressive, playful, funny, and fun. She never hesitated to wrap you in a big hug, and was always quick to give you a sincere compliment.

She was also drop dead gorgeous and could model for the camera like a true professional. She was nothing short of captivating, as evidenced by her Instagram. I always told her she needed to audition for “America’s Next Top Model.” She would laugh and tell me she was too short to make the cut. I know she was many a photographer’s muse. An artist even painted a stunning, large scale mural of her downtown.

As much as she was a natural in front of the camera, she also loved being the one behind it. I think she went through life viewing people through a photographer’s lens, always noticing the beauty in everyone she came across.

Her family is absolutely devastated. She was just 33.

Sadly, as they come to terms with the shock of her passing, they are also faced with the difficult task of making her final arrangements. The unexpected nature of this loss has left them unprepared for the financial burdens associated with her funeral and memorial services. Candace did not have any kind of life insurance. And as most of you probably know, funerals aren’t cheap.

So I’m reaching out to the community surrounding Candace and her family, and anyone that wants to help. When tragedies like this happen, everyone always says, “Let me know if you need anything,” but the family is not going to ask you for money. However, this is the best and easiest way you can support them at this time. Any contribution, even if it’s just $5, will help cushion their hardship and show them you care.

Your generosity will go directly towards covering Candace’s funeral expenses, and will help the family honor her life in the meaningful way she deserves.

Let’s all come together and shower them with love and support during this unimaginable time. And please remember their broken hearts in your prayers.
