Help Cover Debbie's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
I am Kelly Emerson aka Rescuediva! I am raising funds for the care bills of our beloved rescued dog Debbie. Pssst, don’t tell her she’s a dog.

On August 29th Little Debbie Sweetcakes underwent a second surgery following what we thought had been just a fatty tumor removal a couple months prior. This tumor was in the mammary section and because of the size and place we elected to have Dr. Dennis Emerson remove it. The tissue was sent to pathology and was found to be one of the Mast Cell family. An appointment was made with Dr. Burr, oncology dept. at CVS. She confirmed findings but assured us that it was the type of MCT that usually doesn’t cause problems, however noted a small area that felt like granulation tissue she suspected that could possibly be more of the tumor as the location was at incision. Medications prescribed and back to Dr. Emerson we went to have the area removed on Halloween, 2024. November 20th Debbie began to vomit when she drank water and was placed on bland diet. During all of this one would never know that Debbie was experiencing anything wrong! She continued to be the farm greeter, side by side rider, house guard and cat snuggler. By Thanksgiving week she needed fluid therapy and was hospitalized for 3 days. Tests were run from Nov 20th-27th with no confirmed diagnosis other than gastritis. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving we took her to CVS to be seen on emergency basis, because a referral appointment couldn’t be made until after December 30th per staff at CVS. She was admitted. After 2 1/2 days of hospitalization for fluid therapy and tests we were told MCT cells were present in spleen and lymph nodes. We know we are on borrowed time. Other than lower energy and the inability to tolerate more than a few laps of water at a time you wouldn’t know she is ill.

The medical bills for her surgeries, biopsies, and ongoing treatment have quickly added up. Between the emergency admittance, post-operative care, and ongoing treatments to manage her cancer now, the costs are substantial. So much so that we are very much afraid that if someone calls for our assistance with large animals and or neonatal care of kittens I could not say we could help without financial distress. Not one of the veterinarian offices had any sort of payment plans. All costs had to be placed on credit cards or paid up front. Making these payments will take a significant toll so I am reaching out and asking for assistance for care costs. We have never done a crowd funding for us but we see no other choices.

Debbie is a light in many lives and it is our sincerest wish to make the rest of her days as happy and pain free as possible. If you can find it in your hearts to help us it would be greatly appreciated.
