Help Cover Duane Mitchell's Medical and Funeral Costs

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

I am reaching out today with a heavy heart to share some very difficult news about our dad, Duane Mitchell. In late July of 2024, he traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a visit. On August 1st, we tried to contact him to check in, but we couldn’t reach him. After many attempts, we contacted the local police and hospitals and learned that he had been admitted to CMC Hospital in Charlotte on August 3rd after suffering a stroke. He was found unresponsive in his hotel room by housekeeping.

After a month of being separated from him, we were able to have Duane transported back to Maryland for rehabilitation. It was such a relief to have him closer, where we could visit him and provide our love and support. Unfortunately, this stroke had a much more devastating impact on his health than the two he had experienced in the past. He was left paralyzed on his right side and unable to speak, unable to explain what had happened.

As he struggled with these severe health challenges, we did everything we could to make him comfortable and aid in his recovery. On October 15th, his birthday, he accidentally removed his feeding tube and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered internal bleeding and performed a blood transfusion on October 19th. They told us he was stable and doing “okay,” but tragically, the following morning, Duane passed away.

We are heartbroken, but we also face a number of unexpected expenses in the wake of his passing, including medical bills, funeral costs, and support for his continued care during his rehabilitation. We are asking for any support you can offer to help us cover these costs. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to our family during this difficult time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and prayers.
