Help cover Funeral Costs for Theresa Burmeister

In August 2021 Theresa was admitted to the Avera hospital in Sioux Falls due to difficulty breathing. What had initially started out as a lung infection was later discovered to be lung cancer. Theresa was always strong willed and was adamant that she was going to beat the cancer.

She remained at Avera for approximately one month while going through multiple procedures and having a drainage tube placed to help with the active lung infection. Once she was released from Avera she spent the next 3 months in Luverne, MN with her older sister Viola who graciously played stay-at-home nurse while Theresa went through her Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments.

While going through her treatments Theresa got to enjoy long car rides and Qdoba lunch dates with her younger sister Anna, as well as her children who lived in Sioux Falls.

Theresa was able to return to her home in Sioux Falls the beginning of December 2021, where she lived with 2 of her children. She went through her last week of radiation and was improving well enough to return to her job at Midco.

Theresa enjoyed her time spent back at work as she was always a very hard worker and wanted to support her team even through her own struggles.

She then started to decline in health around the New Years and returned to Avera for care. She passed in her hospital room in comfort on Friday January 7th.
